Unlike traditional pasta, this orzo isn’t cooked in boiling water but rather is slowly cooked in flavorful broth and mixed with parmesan cheese. This parmesan orzo is so simple and quick and doesn’t break the bank. Creamy and flavorful, this dish is sure to become a favorite.

  • Salted butter
  • Orzo pasta
  • Less-sodium chicken broth
  • Water
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil
  • Sea salt, black pepper
  • Toasted Pine nuts

How to Make Creamy Parmesan Orzo

Step 1: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add orzo and cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. 

Step 2: Stir in broth and water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until liquid is absorbed and orzo is fully cooked, approximately 15-20 minutes.

Step 3: Remove from heat; stir in cheese, basil, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle with pine nuts and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve immediately.

Storage

Parmesan orzo can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
