These simple dinner rolls are soft and buttery and are the perfect side dish. These rolls only have a few simple steps and ingredients but are sure to impress friends and family.

How to Make Simple Dinner Rolls:

Step 1: In a medium bowl, mix 1/2 cup warm water into sugar and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.

Step 2: Add remaining warm water, salt, softened butter, and flour. Using your hands, combine ingredients and then knead for 3-5 minutes, or until the dough forms a smooth ball.

Step 3: Cover with plastic wrap or a damp towel and let sit for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Step 4: Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Press to remove air pockets. Using a bench scraper or knife, divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place in a well seasoned cast iron skillet or a greased 9×13 pan.

Step 5: Cover loosely and let rise for 30-45 minutes.

Step 6: Preheat the oven to 40o degrees Fahrenheit. Brush the rolls with melted butter and bake for 25-30 minutes, rotating halfway through. Brush with more melted butter and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Storage:

Store dinner rolls in an air-tight container at room temperature for 2-3 days.

Can I freeze these rolls?

These rolls freeze very well. Freeze baked rolls for up to 3 months and reheat in the oven. You can also freeze the dough. Thaw in the refrigerator, let rise at room temperature and bake.
